The Short-Term Medical Project in Ghana is a unique experiential and service-learning programme designed for both aspiring and healthcare professionals who want to combine clinical exposure, community engagement, cultural immersion, and global health learning.
Over two impactful weeks, participants will work alongside Ghanaian healthcare professionals, engage with local communities, gain first-hand insight into healthcare delivery in a developing-country context, and contribute meaningfully to ongoing health initiatives.
Beyond the clinical experience, participants will discover Ghana’s rich culture, build international connections, and develop the leadership, adaptability, and intercultural competencies that are essential for today’s healthcare practitioners.
The program offers participants a unique opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to healthcare practice in Ghana through:
- Visits to health care providing institutions
- Interaction with Doctors, Specialists, Paramedics and a host of others
- Shadowing Doctors, both general and specialist
- Engagement with medical students for insight into what actual medical school studies entail.
- Visiting a couple of historic sites
The program includes a variety of activities designed to support learning, engagement, and cultural exploration, including:
- Mentorship/Knowledge Exchange
- Institutional Field Experience
- Cultural Events/Activities
- Community Outreach

- Medical Students
- Pre-Medical Students
- Professionals in practice
The program fee covers a range of costs, while certain expenses remain the responsibility of the participant.
The program fee covers:
- Administrative Cost
- Airport pick-up and drop-off
- Orientation
- Accommodation
- Daily breakfast
- Internal transport to and from assigned project
- General Liability Insurance
- Compensation for facility usage at hospitals/ clinics / CHPS
- Cultural events/activities
On the other hand, the program fee does not cover:
- Flight
- Visa
- Travel / Medical insurance
